Tiny
SALT CAY is one of the loveliest islands in the country, both for its
natural beauty and its historical appeal.
Although it measures no more than six and a half square miles and is home to
fewer than one hundred people, the island was a once an important source for the
Bermudian salt rakers, whose relics still litter the place and provide much of
the charm: fabulous old white-washed houses as well as the salt pans from which
the "white gold" was laboriously scraped.
Add to that some sugary white beaches (particularly along the north coast),
great diving and snorkeling, and a small but fine range of accommodation, and
you've got another great place to chill out.
