NORTH CAICOS is the most lush and in many ways the most beautiful of the nation's islands. Receiving more rainfall than anywhere else, the vegetation is denser and taller here than on the other islands, and many islanders keep vegetable patches and grow fruit trees, including tamarind, papaya and sapodilla.

As you'd expect, the beaches are great, too. Although property speculators have pushed land prices to dramatic heights in the hope that North Caicos will become the next Provo, tourist development to date is pretty low-key, with just a few small hotels on the north coast.
