Sip a cocktail at the bar and watch a fabulous sunset before sidling into this easy-going bistro that has quickly earned a reputation as one of the finest places to eat on the island. The fish and lobster are superb whether marinated in ginger and soy or simply pan-fried on the grill, and there's a smaller selection of fine cuts of beef or lamb. Caicos Café Caicos Café Plaza, near Ports of Call, just east of Allegro hotel phone 649/946-5278. Beautifully lit with candles and fairy lights and decorated with Haitian art, this semi-outdoors French-owned restaurant serves superb fresh meals. Starters include conch salad (US$9) and tuna carpaccio ($12), while mains always feature fresh local fish and lobster ($20-27) and imported steaks. Finish things off with a Caicos Coffee, strong and infused with plenty of kahlua and whipped cream.

 

 

Lattitudes Ports of Call - phone 649/946-5832. Happy hour starts at 5pm after which Californian but long-time resident Jeff Rollings starts dishing out top-notch pizzas, ribs, steaks, fish and burgers in a relaxed setting. All dishes under US$15. Dinner only.
