The Crossing Place Trail makes Middle Caicos one of the best places in the country for hiking and biking. It's an ancient path that leads from Lorimers in the east around the north coast of Middle Caicos to Crossing Place in the west, from where it's possible to cross to North Caicos at low tide.

After years of being overgrown, the path was recently cleared by the National Trust, and you can now follow the track for four and a half miles from Conch Bar to Crossing Place.

Part of the path is on the beach and passes through Mudjin Harbour, with trail markers along the way. It's a great way of seeing the island, mostly along the flat and not particularly strenuous parts, though you may want to arrange for a taxi to pick you up at the end of the route.

There is also a seven-mile biking trail on pretty easy terrain from Conch Bar to Bambarra beach, with good snorkelling spots along the way. Bikes can be rented from Sport Shack in Conch Bar for around US$15 a day.
